D'innombrables réfugiés ont pu fuir les horreurs commises par les djihadistes. Paul vient de rencontrer trois familles originaires du même village au centre du Mali. Les djihadistes ont tué tous les hommes de leur village puis ils se sont emparés d'un groupe de femmes et de filles qu'ils ont emmenées avec eux pour les violer. Chaque semaine, ils ramènent un groupe de femmes et en prennent un autre pour la semaine suivante...

Day 2130. We walked to the Hertz Gold counter where we were supposed to pick up our car at 11 pm. But it was 12:30 am or later, and no one was there. I was surprised the doors even opened. Hotels didn' have shuttles after midnight either, and so we had no choice but to stay at the airport until they'd start working again at 7 am.

Day 2129. After 4 hours of sleep, the alarm went off at 5:30 am, and Randy got up. I had set another alarm for 6:30 am for myself, but Randy got me out of bed before that. I got up and went to work, emptying the dishwasher, making sandwiches with the remaining bread and a bunch of other things that needed to be done.
