HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 705. Last night I went to bed at 1:30, and Emmy came to me at 5:30. Way too early. It was over an hour later before we sat down for breakfast. After having eaten, I took them downstairs, turned the worship music on and gave them the instruments, and a little later the Bibles. I left them, when Randy came with his breakfast. Emmy was already getting tired.
I did the cleanup and even though I was tired, stayed up until Sonja came at 8:15 am. Emmy had already asked for Sonja and to look at photobooks. Randy came upstairs with Sammy and left at 8:30 to take him to his physiotherapy session at the university hospital. I sat down to work until I could not go on and set my timer for 50 minutes and closed my eyes.
It was a rude awakening, but I needed to cook. I could hear a tired and cranky Emmy downstairs, and so I called them up before the food was on their plate. It was 11 am. Sonja was with them, helping them as needed, while I continued working in the kitchen, and got their icecream with apple sauce ready. They were still eating, when Randy and Sammy returned. Emmy had already been asking for them several times. They also sat down to eat lunch.
I put a tired Emmy to bed right away, while Sonja went downstairs with Tammy, who was also tired, which was obvious, when I went to get her a little later. However, it still takes her a long time to fall asleep. Sammy was already in bed and sleeping, when she came. Normally she does get quiet and falls asleep at one point, but today she started screaming, so I checked on her. She matter of fact said to me "kaki" (poop), showing me her dirty hand, and so I changed her diaper. She was extremely tired by that point, and then fell asleep fast.
I was extremely tired myself, but never got to actually sleep. I did all the cleanup and continued doing office work. Emmy woke up first, and Randy sat down with him. However, he had already slept about two hours, so he did not sleep any more. Sammy was woken by the noise, so I picked him up, and then Tammy was suddenly awake too, and she'd only slept an hour, when she usually sleeps at least twice that long. However, it was a good day for that as we needed to leave as early as possible. We immediately started dressing them, and left the house just after 2 pm.
It took us exactly an hour to get to the other end of town and to our friend's house. We had to take the subway to the end, and then the tram from one end of the line to the other. Thankfully we've been there before, so we knew where to go. But we had never been there in summer. It was great to see our friends again, and were impressed by their nice garden, a paradise for little kids. And so Emmy and Tammy were pretty excited, running around and checking everything out. The cat was sitting under the table, and Tammy went straight to her to pet her, but she ran away, and was never in petting distance again.
They had a sandbox as well as a swimming pool. At first Tammy went into the sandbox for a little bit, but then we took their clothes off and put swim diapers on them, and Tammy went into the water right away. Emmy was his fearful self and would not go in there, even though it was not deep at all. Sammy loved it of course, when I put him in, but you had to hold him, so he was only in there rather short.
Our friend had made a cake, and so we sat down for cake and tea/coffee/milk. They all had some. Then they were up and running again. Our friend's son and Tammy were in the water for a while, playing. Emmy cautiously came up to it, but refused to go in. He did like to play with a stick that spewed water though, and had me fill it up for him all the time.
Then they found the climbing structure, and Tammy was the first one up on it - with help. Emmy also went up for a short time. Randy had been inside for a while already, playing with Sammy there. He then pointed out that it was already 5 pm, and so we realized we needed to head home. We started dressing them. When it was Tammy's turn (last), she threw a fit as she did not want to leave at all. She was having the greatest time in the pool. We could barely get her dressed. As soon as she was done and I picked her up, she melted into my arms and put her head on my shoulder. She was really tired, having slept so little. She again fought against going into the stroller, but thankfully not for long. We had to leave, and everyone waved good-bye. It was 5:20 pm.
We took the tram and subway again, and I had Tammy who was sitting in my lap. On the subway it was tough with them; it always is when they're this tired. It took us exactly an hour to get home, so it was already past their dinner time. And Emmy was insistently asking for food. So I got a piece of bread with cream cheese into his mouth as quickly as possible, and kept going getting food for them onto their plates. As soon as there was some stuff on them, we put them into their chairs, and I kept cutting and bringing the food to them. I did not cut as much different stuff as usual. They ate well. Tammy really likes cantaloupe right now. They didn't eat it all at the table, but finished it all in the bathtub. Then they went to bed. It was about half an hour later than usual. They were really tired. It didn't take Emmy long to fall asleep. Tammy had a hard time, as usual, and needed me to stay for a while.
Then I left and got myself something to eat and started working again. Now it's 1:30, so high time to go to bed.
