Day 1212. Yesterday was the day of cancelations, as everyone seems to be sick right now, including us. It was the third day of Emmy having fever, and we were considering going to the pediatrician in the afternoon. Especially since I had a doctor's appointment near there myself at 4 pm. However, I got a call that my doctor was sick and my appointment canceled.

We normally have music class in the morning, but because of Emmy being sick we did not go. Instead I cooked a soup, and Emmy was allowed to stay in bed and watch videos. Tammy got on that bandwagon for most of the time herself and enjoyed it. Emmy skipped lunch and stayed in bed; he had no appetite at all. Since he's such a lively, extrovert boy who's always the center of attention, it was very noticeable for him to be quiet and lying down.

I checked the pediatrician's website and found out that you had to get there by 2 pm to be seen as so many children are sick right now. That made it impossible for us to go there, and we decided to go there this morning if necessary. So none of us left the house in the afternoon, and my 8 pm lesson was also canceled because of my student being sick. I have to say, I enjoyed a day at home and catching up on some much-needed work.

This past night Emmy once again pretty much slept the whole night in bed with me. I was happy that his fever had finally broken, so that he had none this morning and then all day. Because of that we did not go to see the pediatrician. Sammy got sick last, and while he coughs and has a runny nose like the others, he's only had a little bit of an elevated temperature for a short time, but never a fever like Emmy, which Tammy had not had either. My own nose is much better, but I'm also still coughing.

It was pretty late, when I got up at 8:45 this morning. Swim class is over for now, so we did not have to get up early for that as we've done on Tuesdays these past few months. With Emmy being himself again, I decided to start making the Christmas cookies. I like using bake mixes, but I did not have one. Instead I had looked up a recipe online. Of course Tammy and Emmy wanted to help me, and they dumped ingredients into the bowl. When the dough was done, I wrapped it and put it into the fridge so it could rest.

It was already 10:45 and I needed to run to the post office. Of course the kids wanted to come with me, and so they did. We took the subway, then walked to the post office. It was windy and really cold. We were glad to get inside and stood in line, thankfully not for very long. After I was done, we walked to the drug store around the corner. I didn't get what I wanted, but the kids got their snacks. They sure know how to market to little kids, putting Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig on all the different products. After we left the store, we headed back to the subway and were back home by 11:30.

Randy and Sammy were already upstairs, as it's only 16 degree Celsius downstairs right now, with the heater not working. Today a repair guy actually came, but the house management had not given him the key to get access to the heating system, and so he had to leave again. Hopefully he can return tomorrow to fix it.

The kids were hungry, and so I heated up the soup as quickly as possible. We sat down to eat, but Tammy did not eat as much as yesterday. Sammy has also lost some of his appetite because of being sick. Emmy finally ate again. But nobody had icecream, even though Tammy had said she wanted some. They wanted to watch videos more, and so they were watching Pinocchio until nap time at 1:15. Then I sat down by them and left once they were asleep.

Instead of sleeping, I went to work, preparing for lessons, while Randy had already left for the grocery store. Right after he returned, Emmy woke up, but I was able to put him back to bed, and he fell asleep again, which rarely happens. Sammy then was the next up, and I got him out of bed. A little while later Tammy woke up, and Emmy was still asleep, which is unusual. After some more time Emmy woke up as a well, and they all went downstairs with Randy, while I got ready to teach from 4 to 6 pm, which I did. They came upstairs just after I was done and started watching Superbook, while I went to the kitchen to start making their dinner.

Just after 6:30 we sat down to eat. They didn't eat much, then ate a little more in the bathtub. Then we got them ready for bed. We opened the advent calendars and read the stories, then I prayed for them and put them to bed. By 8:10 they were all in bed, and I sat down by them. All of them were pretty awake and active. After Randy was done eating, he took my place, which I was really thankful for. I went to the kitchen and started making my salad, then sat down to eat it. I had a few pictures today, and after I was done with them, I decided to continue wrapping Christmas presents. Emmy once walked into the room, but I had already heard him coming and covered the gifts up. Even though he protested, I put him back in his bed, telling him I was wrapping gifts, so he couldn't be in the room with me. After a few minutes he gave up the fight, and I was able to go back to wrapping. Just after midnight he came again and lay down in my bed, where Randy joined him a few minutes later. Now it's after 1 am, and I still have to clean the kitchen before going to bed myself.
