3 years 4 months 10 days

Day 1227. Since I haven't written in four days, I decided to write a short update today, even though I don't have any pictures.

Sunday, January 1st

We had planned to go to church in the afternoon, but the kids slept long after the short night they had had, and I needed to work on the pictures from Mali and get a newsletter out, so we stayed home.

Monday, January 2nd

Christine from Caritas came at 2 pm and stayed until 6 pm. My 4 pm class was canceled, but I taught from 5 to 6 pm. The kids were still enjoying playing with all their new toys.

Tuesday, January 3rd

Three days after Emmy had burned his hand, he needed to go back to the hospital for the bandages to be removed. We got there at 9:45 and had to wait two full hours before we were called in! Emmy was watching videos and playing games while waiting and was amazingly patient.

When they first took the bandages off, they thought his hand looked great. However, then they discovered that there was some liquid in two blisters and so they started cutting them open, while I had to hold Emmy tight who was screaming and trying to get away. They then put new bandages on his hand and told us to come back three days later. It should all be good by then.

We got home at noon, where Randy had just finished making omelets for everyone. After lunch the kids went to bed, and at 2 pm Christine came and stayed until 6 pm. After Sammy woke up, Randy left with him to go pick up Sammy's new special shoes from the store. Tammy and Emmy played with Christine, and I started the German translation of the newsletter I had finished and sent out on Monday, and did get it done before midnight. I also taught from 8 to 9 pm.

Wednesday, January 4th

I had set an alarm again, like yesterday, as I had a 10 am class to teach. I just about got the kids dressed before I started. At 11:15 I went to the kitchen to make lunch, and today we ate a little earlier than usual, which gave them more time to watch videos before lying down for their nap. While I never got Tammy to sleep at lunch time yesterday, today they all fell asleep rather quickly. I was very tired myself and set my alarm so I could get a few minutes of sleep. It was hard getting up, when it went off. But I only had a few minutes until startin to teach at 3 pm. I then taught until 6 pm, while Randy was downstairs with the kids. In the evening I was able to finish and send out the French translation of the newsletter.
