HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1239. Thank God they slept much better last night. However, Sammy woke up at 6:30, and that was the end of the night for us. Emmy was awake pretty soon as well, and at 7:15 we decided to get up a few minutes early. Tammy was the last one to wake up. We got ready for breakfast and went downstairs to eat. They have a breakfast buffet, and they told me what they wanted. However, some of it they would still not eat. Especially Tammy hardly eats anything in the morning.
After breakfast we went to our room to put their ski suits on and get ready to leave to go ski. It takes a while to get everyone ready, and we had to catch the 9:25 bus. We were just a little more relaxed than yesterday, but then it was suddenly late. However, this time we had everything we needed with us. Sammy's hat got lost yesterday though.
We headed to the bus stop across the street, where there were quite a few people already waiting today. When the bus arrived, it was actually empty, but we filled it up quite a bit. It only takes a few minutes to get to the skiing resort. Everyone got off, but before we headed to the skiing school, we first went into the store there to buy some spikes to put on my shoes. It's like what you put on your car tires. The way I was slipping with my boots without traction yesterday, I sure needed them. Today, however, I had put my tennis shoes on, and together with the new snow, I had no problem slipping, even without the spikes.
The kids were actually all excited about the snow that had fallen during the night, making everything white that had been brown yesterday. It was beautiful, new snow, all crunchy, and it made a big difference on the slopes. The ice was covered up, and the kids were much slower going down the slope today.
Leaving the shop, we headed to the skiing school area, crossing the car park, then going up stairs and crossing a slope. There were a lot of kids already there. We went inside the hut to put their shoes on, then got their skis and headed to the same slope they were on yesterday. We put their skis on, and off they went skiing.
They picked up where they had left off yesterday, just being a lot slower due to the new snow. They'd go down, and then come back up with the moving carpet to go down again. Sammy was either with me or with Randy, and we did everything possible to keep him happy. After 45 minutes Tammy started getting hungry and tired. Then we suddenly all left, went around the school building and down to more training slopes like where we had been. There were a lot of kids already there. Emmy and Tammy each went down that slope and then back up, when the school boss actually started shouting that those kids should have stayed up there on the slope. It had obviously been a misunderstanding, and so we all headed back up there. One of the teachers had Emmy on one hand and another kid on the other, while I walked back up with Tammy. They then had a break for drinks and cookies, and Sammy ate a banana. Then we all headed back down so they could go in the caroussel. There were having lots of fun riding it again.
Then it was time to continue with the class, so we all walked back up again. Tammy refused to continue skiing. She'd had enough. Emmy put his shoes back on and continued, never complaining once. It's actually pretty interesting. While he complains all the time in the morning, all the way to the school, she's all excited and eager in the morning and can't wait to get there. But then she's the one who's soon had enough and doesn't want to go on, while Emmy just goes on and on without ever complaining once. I was really impressed by him and proud of him.
As for Tammy, she wanted to play in the snow and started digging and playing hard. There was a good number of other kids who were done, and so a skiing instructor brought a game of having to throw hoops over a pole. When Tammy saw those kids playing, she went over there as well to join the game. Once Emmy saw them playing, he wanted to play too and took his skis off and went over there. He played briefly, then the instructur encouraged all the kids to go put their skis back on again and go down the slope. Emmy did, Tammy wouldn't. After a few more times up and down he'd had enough to. It was about 12:15, so it was okay to stop. One teacher told me that the only reason the class goes to 12:30 is because the first bus leaving is at 12:45. Today, however, we were picked up by the hotel. And so we went inside the hut to put their regular shoes back on and put the skis inside the storage room. Then we walked to the exit, where the other parents were already waiting for pickup. Soon our driver arrived. It turned out that there was too many of us even for two cars, and so he said he'd come back for the five of us. As Tammy had wanted to go down the slide right there since the beginning, we headed there. We made our way up the hill to the top, and it was a bit tricky on top, with the ice under the snow, but the three of us got there. Emmy went down first. However, there were a few bumps in the slide, and it was really fast, and he landed hard on his butt and started crying. He had not liked the bumps at all! Because of that, I decided to go down the slide together with Tammy. I sat down, put Tammy on my lap, and off we went. Even I didn't like it, and I also landed hard on my behind. We were not gonna do that again!
We were right where the caroussel was, and Randy suggested we'd put the kids in the "boats" and pull them around a little bit. Then the skiing instructors came to unhook the boats and put them in storage for the night. And so they got to ride from the caroussel to the shed, being pulled by the instructors. And Sammy got included.
Then it was time to make our way to the parking lot, where we'd be picked up. Once there, I picked up some snow off a car, made a ball and threw it at one of the kids. And so we started a snowball fight, having lots of fun. One time Randy threw one on top of Tammy's head, and I happened to take a picture just at that moment. After we had played for a while, our ride arrived, and we got into the car for the third day in a row. We had fun in the car and soon arrived at the hotel.
The kids were pretty hungry, but we first went to our room to take our skiing clothes off. Then we went downstairs for lunch. We were obviously much later than all the other parents having taken the first ride. We went to the supervised kids' area we hadn't seen yet to pick up our food. The lady there was so kind to carry it to the other room, where we sat down at the table to eat. It was pasta with a ham and cheese sauce. Tammy is pretty picky and immediately said that she didn't like it, but she ended up eating a few spoonfuls just because I put them into her mouth. The brothers ate pretty well, and we ordered two little snacks for ourselves.
After we were done eating, we returned to the room for nap time. Once again it was really hard to get them to sleep, and it took until 2:45 today. Then I also lay down to sleep and got to sleep a little. Around 3:45 Sammy was the first one up, and then everyone else woke up again. We all got ready to leave the room, and went downstairs at aboutt 4 pm.
We went to the play area to find out the kids had already missed the treasure hunt they'd been looking forward to. They were disappointed. One of the bosses was there, the one who'd been driving us, and he announced that he was about to go feed the animals and that all the kids could come join him. And so we returned to our room to put shoes and coats on and then walked to where the animals were.
The boss and a good number of kids were already there, feeding the three donkeys. Tammy and Emmy also gave them some hay. Then we walked on to the two pigs that he gave a big bowl of food to. Next came the two goats and two rabbits, and the cat showed up as well. We went inside to them, and the kids got to feed them to. Tammy was especially excited about the rabbits and petted one of them. Then we moved on to the chickens. They were already asleep in their house, but he let them look at them inside the house, shining his light inside. Then he opened a drawer and pulled two eggs they had laid out. He let the kids hold them, then he returned to the pigs and gave them to them. We returned to where we had started and gave the donkeys the rest of the hay, then we made our way back to the house. We tried to get all the snow off our shoes, as we went into the house. They had a machine inside with a rotating brush, and it helped get the rest off.
We then headed straight to the play area, finally. Sammy had been asking for the balls for a while. Tammy sat straight down at the table, where the supervisor and a few kids were hard at work playing with playdoh. Emmy sat down on a horse that he could make move with his legs, which was lots of fun. He went around the room on it, while Randy put Sammy behind a cart that he could push and walk with. However, the boys wanted the balls, and so I took them over there. Sammy wanted to slide, so we climbed up together, then across, and then he got to slide down into the balls. We did the big tour together twice and had lots of fun. It was hard work for me, however, climing up and over and through, and all in that small space made for children. After two tours I had enough and went back to the other room, where Tammy and Randy were. Emmy joined his sister at the playdoh table for some time, but not for long. They still wanted to go swimming, which meant it was time to leave, and they had to clean up and pack up anyway. Tammy was disappointed. We left and went to our room to put our swim suits on, then took the elevator to the swimming pool.
We were the only ones in there the whole time. We put the rings on them, showered off, and went into the water. And once again we were having lots of fun in the water. We played hard, and they swam hard. After a while we decided it was time leave. We went to our room, got dressed, and went downstairs for dinner.
It was already 6:45, when we got there. Dinner is from 6 to 8 pm. I went to the kids' buffet with the kids, told them what the food was, and Tammy immediately said that she didn't like that. It was news to me that she does not like tomato sauce. I made three plates of meatballs, rice and potatoes for them. Tammy wanted it all without tomato sauce. All three then ate, more or less, while we had salad and soup from the buffet, and then got our appetizer and main course. The kids were done eating before we had our appetizer, but the supervised play time in the play area was already over by the time they were ready to go over there. And so we got our phones and the tablet out for them to watch or play. Sammy now asks for the baby game quite a bit. It kept them busy, while we finished our meal. It was already 8:30 by the time we left the restaurant to return to our room.
Back in our room we got them ready for bed and put them to bed. They all had their milk, and I sat down on the floor by Sammy's bed upon his request and held his hand until he was asleep. Tammy was giving me a hard time again, but finally she and her brother sleeping next to each other in one bed fell asleep. It was already pretty late though. I then started working on the many pictures of today, which took me a while, as well as writing my report. And so it's already 1:15, and the alarm goes off at 7:30.
