HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1046. Today it was after 8 am before we crawled out of bed. The kids had been up a while. After breakfast I took them downstairs, where we read a Bible story. Tammy wanted to draw, while the boys wanted the piano, and so I set it all up. Then I went upstairs to work.
They came upstairs before noon, but Tammy and Emmy don't want the cream on their tongues any more and by tonight, we also stopped giving it to Sammy, even though he's the only one still saying he's hurting while eating, but at least he's eating. Today we had a big pizza from the store for the first time that I baked in the oven. They all enjoyed it, then had icecream.
After cleaning them up and dressing them with their leaving-the-house clothes, we put them straight to bed. It was just about 1 pm. Thankfully they fall asleep fast at nap time, even though Tammy was giving me a hard time again at first. I returned to my computer and worked a little, but I was really tired. Just after 1:30 pm I set a 20-minute timer and closed my eyes. It was a rude awakening, when my alarm went off at 2 pm. I was just so tired. Moments later Emmy walked into the room; I guess my alarm had woken him up as well. Soon Tammy and Sammy were also up. I quickly got myself and everything ready for us to leave at 2:20 pm.
Summer time is road construction time, and this summer it hits us hard with public transportation. For the next two months the subway is not running all the way to the end, which makes it so much harder to get to the school, where they have their exercise class. And then the S-train won't run the whole month of August, which is gonna make it hard for us to go to church. Today it was the first time that we had to get to the exercise class somehow. I researched my options and decided we were gonna take the regular train. That meant no stroller. Instead I took one tricycle and had to get a bag for their drink and snacks and diapers. Emmy got on the tricycle, while Tammy decided she'd rather walk than be carried on my shoulders. It was quite a walk to get to the train, and Tammy ran most of it. We waited about two minutes before our train arrived. I lifted them inside over the steps and then put the tricycle in. We only had one stop to ride. Tammy always panicks in those situations for some reason. I got the tricycle out on the platform, then lifted Emmy out, and she was already crying, even though I picked her up next to get her outside. We rode the elevator up and then down and then got on the bus that was just driving up. We rode three stops and got off at the final stop of the subway, where we usually get off, when the subway runs. Then we walked the rest of the way to school. It was extremely windy today, and the wind was rather cool, which was nice after all the heat we've had.
We got to the school a few minutes before the class started. The teacher had already set up a little course for them to do as they pleased. They immediately grabbed the hoops and played with them, and then really showed some creativity in what you could do with what was set up. They're the oldest in this class, and that's pretty obvious.
They were having fun during this free play time, but then we did some songs, and I could not get them to particpate. Tammy kept saying that she was tired. I couldn't even get them to run in circles with the others. When the teacher threw all the balls out and asked them to bring them back and put them into the box, they waited until the very end before getting up and putting a few in there. Of course Emmy had to throw them again. I had played ball with Tammy earlier and was once again impressed by how well she catches the ball. Emmy also caught it.
The teacher did some new things today. She got some big fabric out, put Emmy in, and then we swung him, as if he was in a hammock. Tammy came next. Other kids came too but they were all too scared (too little). Then Emmy and Tammy did it together. And then the teacher got the hot air ballon or parachute out, which they hadn't seen in quite some time. They had so much fun moving it up and down and then running under it, and later they sat down on it and we moved it in a circle.
Last week the kids had asked to do the "baby shark" song, and today we did it again. We also did the caroussel song, and then the good-bye song. The class was over. Tammy wanted to walk again, and so Emmy got on the tricycle. We walked back to the bus stop and got on, going a different way this time. We stayed on the bus for quite some time and got off by the new last stop of the subway. But before getting on the subway we walked into the grocery store there. We've been out of vanilla icecream, and Randy couldn't get any last time, and so we said we'd both go to a store to try to get it, Randy after Sammy's physiotherapy class. I did get some icecream and a few other items, and then we got on the subway to ride the three stops home.
When we reached the first stop, I told them that that was where Daddy and Sammy were getting on and that that was about the time they would get on. To my greatest surprise I actually saw Randy and Sammy on the platform, and so we walked to the back of the train, where they got on. What were the chances!
Just after 4:30 pm we were back home. The kids immediately asked to watch Kasperl. I walked them downstairs and told them they could watch it later, that I'd set an alarm, and when it'd go off, they could watch. They started crying, as that was not satisfying for them. I left them downstairs to go upstairs to do some work, and could hear three crying children downstairs with Randy. They cried for quite a long time before calming down. In the meantime I was notified about my second and third new student and my first lessons with them. My first student and lesson will take place tomorrow morning. I was looking over some stuff, when Randy and the kids came upstairs way too early. They ended up going on the balcony, and a few minutes later it was already 6 pm and time to make their dinner. They still wanted to watch Kasperl and ended up watching it upstairs until dinner time.
Just before 6:30 pm we sat down to eat. They did pretty well eating, considering what the last few days have looked like. Then they went into the bathtub, where they ate a little more and then had icecream before coming out. Just after 7:30 they were all in bed. I sat down by them and was surprised to be able to walk away not long after 8 pm. I got myself something to eat, ate, and then went back to work. I'm hoping for an earlier than usual bed time tonight.
