Day 1037. Last night I could not sleep. I had stuff on my mind that kept me up. I sat on the balcony for a while, and as we're in a heat wave, it wasn't even cool out there. I finally went back to bed and found Emmy there, who I took back to his own bed. Needless to say, I was a mess this morning. The kids were up at 7 am, and by about 7:30 we got up as well. Tired or not, we read a Bible story, but then I left them and went upstairs. It was only about 8:30.

Even though I could barely keep my eyes open, I went to work and worked until 11:30. Then I went to the kitchen to cook. Randy and the kids came upstairs to eat at noon. They all cleared their plates and then had icecream. I cleaned them up and dressed them, and while I was so tired I had no desire to go downstairs with them, I did anyway. I got the piano out that Sammy loves so much, while both Tammy and Emmy went into the swing to go all the way up to the ceiling, and Tammy wanted to look at photobooks, of course. Today we went upstairs earlier, at 1:15 already, and as is always the case, Tammy didn't want to leave and started crying and stayed behind. It didn't take long for her to follow us up the stairs.

I put them to bed, and when I walked away a little later, Emmy was still up. Randy sat down by them and took his nap there, while I went to bed for my much-needed nap. I set my alarm for 2:45 pm, and it was a rude awakening. I let it ring a little longer so that everyone got woken up. Then we got them all ready and left the house on time at 3:15 pm. We took the subway, then the bus, and arrived at the dance school on time for the 4 pm dance class. It was the last one before the 2-month summer break. There was only one other little girl there. Tammy and Emmy were already having fun and running around in circles before the class started. During the class they were not always participating but rather acting really tired. I had Sammy for much of the time who was having great fun with me and protested every time I tried to hand him to Randy.

At 4:45 the class ended and we left. We went to the grocery store together to pick up some stuff. Tammy and Emmy each got a cart, much to their delight. It was shocking to see the empty shelves in the fresh fruit section. And some food has become too expensive to buy. We got what we needed, paid and loaded it all into the strollers. Then we took the bus to the subway. Tammy and Emmy were watching Peppa Pig. When it was time to get off, I noticed that the wheel that had already been in bad shape had finally broken. I needed help getting the stroller off the bus. Then Randy pushed it, while I pushed Sammy, and I'm glad it was still possible to do so. But it was the stroller's last trip. We got on the subway and were home just before 6 pm.

The kids continued watching Peppa Pig, while I was making dinner. At 6:30 they came upstairs to eat. They finished pretty much all their food in the bathtub and were in bed by 7:30. Finally half an hour later, which is what I've been wanting to move bedtime to. However, it was still too early. It took Emmy 90 minutes to fall asleep! After over an hour of sitting with them, I was getting hungry and left, leaving Emmy crying hard for Mommy. Randy sat down by him, and he finally did fall asleep after a while. I went back to work after having eaten, making good use of the time until midnight.
