Day 2138. I was suprised that it was already nearly 7:45 by the time the kids woke up. It must have been the result of having gone to bed so late the night before. We got up and had breakfast with our friends. Since we had planned to travel all day, I had not scheduled any students. However, they had offered for us to stay another night, and since we had no commitments waiting for us at our next destination, we accepted their invitation.

After breakfast, the husband went with Randy and the kids to take them to the playground. I was really tired and did the pictures and wrote the report of the day before that I had not written yet. I got done just after they had returned. A little later the wife returned, and she brought their two dogs because the kids had wanted to meet them. Emmy is the most fearful of dogs but he also warmed up to them. They all petted them, and then they went into the garden to throw the dogs balls, and the dogs caught them. They were having lots of fun.

We then ate leftovers for lunch together, and the dogs stayed with us, catching especially Sammy’s attention. After lunch, we got ready to go swimming. The husband took the dogs back to their friend, while the wife went to the community pool with us. The water was really warm, and the kids had lots of fun there. There were a lot of people there. The kids were jumping into the water from the edge and playing around in the water. Tammy can swim already but somehow she wasn’t doing a very good job, while Emmy also swam worse than before. Sammy and I were having fun again and role-playing. We stayed in the water for a long time, then we got out and got changed and left.

We drove back to the house, and our friends ordered pizza for dinner. The kids, especially Sammy, were pretty hungry and impatiently waiting for the pizza that came relatively late. Then we sat down to eat and had a great time together again. After dinner, I put the kids to bed with a story and a prayer, then I went back to talking with my friends while Randy stayed with them. Randy was soon asleep as well.

And we talked and talked until just after 11 pm. Then I started working on the pictures but soon got too tired to go on, so I went to bed as well.

This morning the kids were up earlier again, at 7 am. We got up and had breakfast, then I packed all our stuff up and sat down at my computer to teach from 9 to 10 am. In the meantime Randy loaded all our stuff into the car. Once I was done teaching, it was time to leave. Sammy and Tammy were already strapped into their car seats, when they were asking to take a picture together, so I took one right there and then. Then we said good-bye and left. It was just after 10 am.

And we had a long 7+ hour drive ahead of us. We drove north at first, through the forest, where there was little internet which made the kids unhappy as they were on their tablets. Eventually we made it out. I checked for Chick-Fil-As along our route and found one in Russellville. There wasn’t another one for a long time after that, so we stopped there at 11:45 am. I had ordered on the app on the way there, so we got our food right away which was really nice. We ate, then the kids played at the playground there for a while. At 1 pm we continued on our way.

We covered 700km today. We stopped for gas and for bathroom breaks but pretty much drove all the time after our early lunch. Sammy had a short nap but not the others. I once tried to sleep and actually fell asleep briefly only to wake up again very quickly. I’m so very proud of Sammy who has really grown and is not crying or impatient or having fits at all. He was often asking how much longer and then praised the Lord for the time left.

We arrived at our friends’ house in Wichita at 7:30 pm. We had stayed with them for the first time two years ago. We were very thankful to be able to stay there again. They had made dinner, so we sat down with them to eat. The kids liked the food and ate well, including dessert. After having been in the car all day, they really needed to move and ran around quite a bit which was okay. They were having fun. After we were done with dinner, it was high time for bed as it was late. They showered, I prayed for them, and they went to bed. By 9:45 the boys were STILL awake. I sat down on our bed and turned the computer on to work on the pictures and write my report. Unfortunately the internet wasn’t working so I couldn’t post anything but had to keep it for tomorrow to do so. Now it’s nearly midnight, and I’m very tired and need to go to bed.
