God At Work In Mali

Madian Diarra is seven months pregnant. A few months ago she heard about our Bible Discovery group and came, and became a believer in Jesus. Her husband did not appreciate that at all and let her know that every chance he had.

About two months ago she started having breast problems, and she was prayed for in the group. The other day Paul went to her house to pray for her as he felt concern for her, and found that she had just fainted. She asked to be taken to the hospital - something the husband never wanted to spend money on, and in all honesty, he did not have the money to do so. Paul had just received some money and used it to take her to the hospital where Amadou was operated a while back. (I told him the ministry would reimburse him, that he did not have to use his own money.)

At the hospital, it happened to be the same doctor who operated Amadou who looked at her. Her one breast has been full of pus, and now the pus is spreading into the rest of her body. The doctor said the situation was serious that she had to be operated on immediately. He also did an ultrasound of the baby. She had never been seen by a doctor because of her pregnancy either. Then the doctor used his own money to buy medication and watched her for a day for free before sending her home. That's absolutely unheard of in Mali, but he knows we're doing humanitarian work and appreciates it. Paul said he was nearly gonna cry because of it.

Her operation and what it involves is going to cost about $850 - a fortune in Mali. Is there anyone out there who would like to help, making this testimony even bigger and maybe even touching the husband's heart by what Christians are doing? She needs to be operated on within the next ten days.

We started the church in Dara in 2008. Makoroba became a believer in 2009 and has been part of the church since. She was blind, and we've been praying for her ever since. It was two months ago that her healing finally started. Her eye sight was gradually coming back, and today, she's completely healed and can see again.

Koumba has been a widow for over 20 years. She had seven children, and all of them girls. Today they are all adult and are married. One of them recently got kicked out by her husband, together with her 4 children, and so the five of them came to live with Koumba. Koumba's only stream of income comes from begging, as nobody helps them at all. However, she's old now and has a hard time walking. When we gave her a bag of rice, they had gone without food for two days. She's now decided to follow Jesus.

Lassana is from the Soninké people who have very few Christians among them. He is the head elder of the mosque in Dara. I recently shared with you how the Muslims were trying to find a way to counter the many people becoming Christians and copied us by giving away some rice. But when they gave it to their own family members, people picked up stones and threw them at them. Lassana was part of the mosque leadership and instrumental in the actions that day. He fled the stones with the other elders.

Lassana has one wife and 11 adult children and countless grandchildren. He's been very sick with a liver disease. One night he had a dream that Christians were praying for him and that he was healed. The next day he sent his son to Paul to ask him to come pray for him. Paul visited him and prayed for him. When he returned to do so a second time, Lassana was completely healed. He went back to the hospital doing tests and startled all the doctors who had no explanations how it was possible that all the results came back normal.

Lassana has decided to follow Jesus and has now left the mosque and caused another big scandal in the village of Dara. The Muslims have decided to ostracize him, and they are going to do everything they can to hurt him. Please pray for Lassana.
