HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 767. Last night I headed to bed at 11:40 pm. Of course Emmy got up at that time to come to me, and I put him back to bed. It was another rough start to the night. At some point I let him into bed with us, and Tammy came as well, and sleep was elusive. In fact Emmy fell off our bed once, but somehow I caught him by his legs so that his head didn't hit the floor. Thank God!
By 7:15 they were up and running around. Then Tammy started crying, and I ran to see what had happened. They had gotten a hold of cleaning supplies, and they were spilled on the floor and on them. So I washed it off of both of them, and then stayed up to make breakfast.
After breakfast we went downstairs, where I turned worship music on and gave them a new Bible that we started reading. I really liked it, as the stories were more detailed, but really written on their level. They were also listening with interest, especially Tammy. When Randy came with his breakfast that they get to share with him, I left to go clean up and work.
I was able to work until after 11 am before I needed to go to the kitchen to cook. At 11:30 they came upstairs to eat. Randy added yoghurt to Sammy's pasta, as he likes it more that way, and then Emmy and Tammy wanted yoghurt too. They also ate more, so it was worth it. But before I could give them a pudding, they were up and running to the bathtub to play with water. So I put them in and turned the water on, and they were having lots of fun. Once Sammy was done, I put him on his back in there as well, and he joined the party. They were all upset, when I turned the water off and got them out. The boys went to bed, and Randy went downstairs with Tammy.
Unfortunately it was another tough day of getting Emmy to sleep, but at some point he finally did fall asleep. Sammy was still awake, but I was able to walk away and he fell asleep shortly after.
I went downstairs to take Randy's place with Tammy, so Randy could run to the store to hand in our Corona test and pick up a few items. It's rare that I'm at home with just one of them, but we both enjoyed the one-on-one play time. At 1 pm I went upstairs with her and put her to bed. Yesterday that had worked well, and she fell asleep minutes later. Unfortunately that was not the case today. She got out of bed, went to Emmy's bed, took his pacifier and woke him up. I tried to get Emmy back to sleep by stroking his head, and was relieved when he did fall asleep. Then I saw that Sammy was up to, and Tammy started playing with him. He had slept an hour at the max. I tried to get her to stop and to lie down and sleep. Before I knew it Emmy was awake again. Randy returned, and they were both interested in the bags of groceries. Emmy came to see what I was doing. I was lying in bed working on the computer. Recently Emmy has started to be able to climb up our bed, and suddenly he was sitting right next to me on the mattress, looking at my computer. And then he somehow pulled on the power cord, which shoved my thermos cup full of freshly made hot tea, so that it fell onto the bed, and over half a littler of boiling hot tea spilled all over my back, my neck and on my chest. I jumped up screaming in pain. Somehow Emmy got off the bed, and he and his sister were both standing there looking at me and crying. Seconds seem much longer in a situation like that. I just stood there in pain, when Randy came running. He told me to get in the shower and turn the cold water on. My skin was burning, and I was sobbing a little in pain. The kids were still staring at me. After I got out of the shower, Randy put lavender oil on me which is the best remedy for burns. Now, hours later, I'm amazed at how little pain is left. The worst part is on my neck on the right. I was glad my computer was fine, and we changed the sheets as everything was soaked. Now Tammy had STILL not slept. Randy went downstairs with the boys, while I continued trying to get her to sleep. It was 2 pm and she was pretty tired, so it didn't take that long at that point.
I didn't have much time left to work. At 3 pm I got Sammy and dressed him, and at 3:15 we left the house. We had to walk a little to get to the tram stop, rode 3 stops, and walked a little to get to the therapy center where Sammy had his first physiotherapy session. He'll be going back to the university hospital one more time to say good-bye to the therapist who worked with him the last two years, and from now on he goes to this new center every Thursday afternoon.
Because of Corona they use their window as a reception desk, and then you have to wait outside until the therapist comes outside to get you. After a few minutes of waiting she came to pick us up and led us to her room. Sammy was curious but a little apprehensive about what was going on. I took his jacket and shoes off and put him on the floor, where we then joined him. I really liked the physiotherapist and so did Sammy. We all had a great time. It didn't take long before Sammy's apprehension was all gone, and he was joyful the whole time. She had him sitting, and I was actually surprised to see how long he could sit without any help. She also had him change positions which is important for him to learn. We tallked some more, and after 50 minutes his time was up and we left.
We walked back to the tram stop and missed one tram, but since it was an old one with steps I didn't mind that much. They never have two old trams in a row as the handicapped cannot take them, but they did today. I could not believe my eyes when the next tram also was an old one. But I wanted to get home, so I got on, with a guy helping me. And to get off, I simply asked a guy on the tram to help me, and he did. Then we walked home, where we arrived just before 5 pm. I undressed Sammy and took him downstairs, then went to the kitchen to get dinner ready. Emmy was upset as he wanted to be with me, but thankfully Randy was able to calm him down. I was able to get all their food ready, and fill the bathtub, and then went downstairs at 5:30 to tidy up with them.
It was quite a mess today. Emmy does not want to clean up, while Tammy is eager to. And so Emmy did not only not tidy up, but he climbed over the barrier without me noticing and went upstairs to where Randy was. In the meantime Tammy and I finished tidying up, and then we also went upstairs.
They like taking their diapers off, and so they sat down at the dining room table nacked tonight. Thank God there were no accidents. They ate a little, Emmy more, and Tammy was up first. They were eager to get into the water, so I helped them into the bathtub. They continued eating there, but only Sammy finished all his food, which is great. They were not happy, when it was time to get out of the water. It was only about 6:30 by the time the first kid went to bed.
And so it was another tough night of trying to get them to sleep. Especially after Randy noticed that the bars on Tammy's bed were coming out and he turned the light on to fix it. Before that at least Emmy was about to fall asleep. But then they were awake again, and we have a hard time keeping them in their beds. I was glad, when they finally did fall asleep.
Then it was my time to make my dinner and eat, before going back to work. Now I still have to do all the cleanup.
