HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 800. Last night I was so tired I headed to bed at 11 pm; we did just turn our clocks back an hour. Emmy crawled into bed with me rather early, and in the early morning hours Tammy joined us as well. We got up at 7 am, which is a typical time since the time change. I made breakfast, they ate somewhat, I dressed them, and instead of taking them downstairs, I first had to clean up the mess they had made. They like opening snack boxes and eat some, which is okay, but they put the box with dried bananas on the floor and then spilled them everywhere. After I was done, they enjoyed playing with the broom, and I had to get another one out for the other kid.
Then I took them all downstairs, where I got their Bibles out, and Tammy picked the first story to read. She sat on my left leg and Emmy on my right and Sammy was on the floor. They were listening intently. Then Emmy got to pick the next story, and then it was Tammy's turn again. Finally Emmy wanted to go in the swing and have his guitar, which always relaxes him. He'll be a guitar player some day!
When Randy arrived with his breakfast, I left them and went upstairs to finish cleaning up and then do office work. I made good progress working. At 11 o'clock I stopped and went to the kitchen to start cooking, and at 11:30 I called them all upstairs to eat. I was thankful to see Emmy eating well, Tammy a little less. They both had puddings after the main dish, and then went into the bathtub to play. Once Sammy joined them, I fed him his high-calorie pudding there.
Emmy was cranky and came out of the bathtub pretty quickly. But then he didn't want to be the only one in bed either. Randy told me that he had already slept the last hour downstairs before coming up. His body temperature was a little elevated again after 2 days, when that was not the case. Once they were all out, Randy went downstairs with Tammy, and I put both boys to bed. There was no way Emmy was gonna sleep, and so I took him downstairs as well. Now Sammy was upset to be the only one in bed. I comforted him, and after a while he fell asleep even without another sibling there.
I was wondering how we were gonna get the other two to sleep, since we had to leave the house at 2 pm. They came upstairs at 1 pm and went to bed at the same time. Tammy was wide awake, as usual, and Emmy didn't want to sleep either. It wasn't long before Sammy was up. We both tried for a while to get them to sleep, but to no avail, so we finally gave up. That gave us more time to dress them, and we left the house on time at 2 pm.
It was a wet, cold day. We walked to the bus stop, got on, rode the few stops, and got off for a long walk to the family center. We got there right on time, only to find out that the place was still locked. Someone had heard from the teacher that she had been delayed, so all the parents waited inside the building for her arrival. She made up for the lost time and added 15 minutes at the end of the class.
We hadn't been there in 3 weeks, as they were sick one week, and it was a holiday the next. But you could tell how happy they were to be back, especially Tammy. She had so much fun, and participated in all the songs more than ever before. We did one song after another, including their two favorite songs that they sing at home every day. One is about washing different body parts, and the other one has meaningless words, but a catchy tune and actions. I could tell that Emmy wasn't completely himself, as he hardly participated at all, which is not typical for him. Tammy was smiling all the time having so much fun.
After we had done a good number of songs and dances, it was play time. The teacher set up all kinds of stuff to climb on and jump off of and they greatly enjoyed it. There were two climbing contraptions, and they went over them quite a few times. Tammy walked over the high bench without any help and even jumped off of it without my hand one time. However, once she had landed she started crying. I don't know if she'd hurt herself.
The teacher came in with a baby bathtub and a box full of balls that she poured into it. The kids immediately came to sit in the balls, and all of our three did as well and enjoyed it. And there were many other things they enjoyed. Toys, horses to ride on, cars and motorbikes, dolls and strollers, and more balls. Time went by fast, and then the teacher got the snacks out. Tammy even ate raspberries which she's refused to eat at home for a while now. Sammy enjoys getting to reach for the food on the plate by himself and putting it into his mouth all by himself.
The class ended with a good-bye song, and then the kids got to choose a sticker for their little card they have for the class. At 4:30 we left the room to put their socks, shoes and coats back on, which took a while. We were the last ones to leave. It was already getting dark, as we were walking to the bus stop. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long. It was rush hour, and there was already a stroller on the bus, but we made it work. Tammy and Emmy came out of the strollers to sit on a bench with me. Emmy was getting pretty tired. Getting off the bus, we still had a walk to get back home. Just as we arrived at our apartment door, the Amazon guy arrived, which was perfect timing. The kids were excited about the boxes he gave us, and so I opened them right away for them to explore the contents.
It was about 5:15, and so time to make dinner. We took their clothes off, sat them at the table, and then I started making their food right there and then, putting it straight onto their plates. It was a little stressful to keep up with them. They ate salami, Emmy and Sammy their bread, but they wouldn't eat the ripe pineapple they had loved so much yesterday. It wasn't long before they were ready to go into the water. I put their leftover food on a plate that I took to the bathtub, and Sammy's plate went there as well. They ate a little more in the bathtub, but not everything, even though it had been little to start with. Only Sammy ate it all.
Then they came out one after another, and we got them ready for bed. They were in bed around 6:20 pm tonight, so a little earlier than usual. I thought they'd be sleeping fast tonight, but that was not the case. Sigh. Sammy was having fun with Tammy again, and Emmy wouldn't lie down. I tried for a while, and then let Randy have the seat. I knew they were tired, so they did fall asleep a little quicker than usual, but it still took quite a while.
I had taken quite a few pictures today, the first time in a while, so it took some time to work on those after I had eaten. And I was shocked to find myself fall asleep while doing so, when it was only about 9:30 pm. I finally got up and did the dishes to wake myself up, and then sat down to write the report.
Emmy has had a really restless evening again, with Randy having to hold him over and over again to get him to sleep, but he keeps waking up. Right now I'm holding him, while I'm typing this. I don't know whey he has these sleep issues every evening, while his siblings simply sleep.
Now to do some more cleanup and then I can head to bed. If Emmy agrees to go to bed, or Randy can take him off of me. We have an early morning tomorrow, so I hope we get a relatively good night's rest.
