Day 2145. It was our first full day in KC yesterday, and we only had an evening commitment. While the kids were up early and went upstairs to play with the kids of the house, I took my time getting up as I had no reason to get up early. At 11:50 we all left the house together to run some errands.

We had some bread but needed some ham to put on it so the kids could eat in the car. And so we stopped at a grocery store right after leaving the house, and I went inside by myself to get some ham and watermelon. We then all ate our lunch in the car.

Our first stop was the bank. We had to wait quite a bit before we got to sit down with a banker. I just hope the issue was resolved.

We got back into the car and drove to Kohl's next as I'd had some important clothes tear. I hate shopping and trying clothes on but I found the perfect item. We paid and went back to the car.

Our next stop was Mardel's right on the other side of the road. It's a huge Christian bookstore and a paradise. I wanted to get some clothes with Christian messages for the kids and for Randy, and Tammy wanted her own Bible. They each got a Bible and a T-shirt and Randy several T-shirts. Unfortunately I forgot to look at inspirational books for kids.

After having paid, we got back into the car. It was time to return to the house. There was lots of traffic and so it was 4 pm before we were back.

I was pretty tired, and we only had little time at home. The kids really wanted to play with the kids of the house, but I consoled them that they'd have lots of time the next day.

I looked up Applebee's in Lee's Summit where we were going to meet friends in KC at 5 pm and found out that they were permanently closed. What a disappointment! I texted my friend and we agreed to meet at an Applebee's in the opposite direction.

We left the house at 4:30 and got there at 5 pm. They arrived just after us, and we went in together and got a big table. It was great seeing them again, and we had a wonderful time visiting - talking and enjoying our food. The kids had their tablets to keep them busy so we could talk. Unfortunately they ate rather little.

By 7:15 pm we were back at the house, and we let them play some more with the kids there. And that's why it was a little later than usual when they went to bed after their story and prayer. Then I turned my computer on to do different things.

This morning I again had more time to stay in bed but I was up ealier than intended because of the kids needing me all the time. At 10:30 we got into our car and drove off. After half an hour we reached "The House of Hope and Healing" in Kansas City where we had an 11 am appointment.

It was great to see my former Bible school teacher again; I had also worked with him in the office back then. For an hour we had a great time catching up. Then he prayed for us, and I took a picture. Then it was time to say good-bye.

We drove back to the direction of the house but stopped at the grocery store right before it. The kids were already pretty hungry. We had decided to pick up a rotisserie chicken and peas and microwave rice and got some more items as well.

By 1:10 pm we were back home. I immediately warmed up the rice and peas and put the chicken on our plates. Our hosts have provided us with a little kitchen area in our big room which is really nice. We also had paper plates and plastic silverware. We all ate, then the kids were off to play with the kids of the house.

We stayed home the rest of the day. The kids were playing hard with the kids of the house (2 boys and 2 girls), while Sammy is enamored with one of the four dogs they have. I wanted to take a nap but never did, working on the computer instead. From time to time the kids came by to show me costumes and stuff.

At 7 pm we joined the family for dinner and ate tacos. When the kids heard that there was pasta leftovers, they were all excited and all had some. Then they continued playing. Sammy kept looking for the dog, and Tammy and Emmy both got to put rollerblades on and try to walk with them.  We also got to do piano practice earlier today.

Since they had gone to bed later than usual for the last two nights, I wanted them to go to bed at their normal time of 8 pm today. Sammy was especially tired. We read a story, I prayed for them, and they went to bed. I then got back on my computer and continued working. Randy went to bed at 10 pm as he's getting up early tomorrow. Now it's nearly 1 am, and I'm also about to go to bed.
