Day 2522. After a short night my alarm went off at 7:15 am this morning. I got up and went to the breakfast room to get some food that I then took to our room. Then I turned my computer on and prepared for my 8 am student. Tammy always has the hardest time to get up but she finally did, then Randy left to take all three to breakfast which gave me the peace and quiet to teach. They returned about ten minutes before I was done but the kids got on their tablets so the noise level was acceptable.
After I was done, I continued working on the computer for half an hour then I started packing up, and Randy loaded the car up. I returned the key to the reception, then we got into the car and drove off. It was 10:30 am.
We had a short 42-minute drive ahead of us as we were in the north of Colorado Springs and our destination was south of Denver. It was a beautiful neighborhood that Randy's middle adult daughter had moved to with her family. At 11:15 we pulled up at her house.
We hadn't seen them in 3 years so everyone was excited. They had a big dog that was very excited about us, and the kids had fun with him. We spent some time talking together, and Tammy and Emmy also went outside to play with their kids.
At 12:30 our friend and board member arrived; she was so kind to bring lunch with her. It was great to see her again in person. We distributed the food to everyone, and the kids sat down at one table and we three adults at another table. Sammy was with Daddy. We then had a great time talking, strategizing and brainstorming. It really touched my heart how much she cared as few people do. After a few hours we took a picture together and then said our good-byes.
The kids continued playing. The boys primarily outside - until it started raining - while Tammy started painting stones. I was also able to get Emmy to practice piano - and play his concert pieces for his half-sister.
I went downstairs and turned my computer on to get some work done. When it was time for dinner, Randy called me. It was great eating a homecooked meal again after 10 days in hotels, and we also enjoyed the fellowship with each other.
The rain had subsided somewhat, and Emmy was outside again. Then Tammy saw a rainbow I tried to take a picture of. Sammy was enjoying the dog. 8 pm, their bedtime, was approaching, and I tried to convince them that it was time to go to bed - especially since we have an extremely early flight on Saturday and move 2 hours east - hours they'll miss greatly. At 8 pm we went to our room in the basement, they took a shower and got ready for bed. In the end, it was nearly 9 pm before they fell asleep after all. Tammy and Sammy ended up sharing a mattress on the floor, while Emmy lay down in our bed. I returned to my computer to work. After a while my eyes were falling shut but I pushed through. Now it's midnight, and I've got to go to bed.
