Day 2453. This day was a holiday, and it was also my 53rd birthday and a busy day of teaching for me. My first student was at 11 am, so I had set my alarm for 10:30 am. I was hoping that the kids would let me sleep as a birthday gift but Tammy came and woke me up because she wanted something one time. The other kids let me sleep.

When I got up at 10:30 am, Emmy sang "Happy Birthday" to me which he did several times in the course of the day.

I taught from 11 to noon, and the food arrived just before I was done. I had placed the order last night. Randy and the kids sat down to eat, while I wrapped up my lesson and prepared for my 1 pm lesson so I could sit down and eat in peace. It was a little stressful. It was a new student at 1 pm so I wanted to make sure I had everything prepared. At 12:30 I was finally able to sit down and eat as well.

But before I knew it, it was 1 pm and time to teach again. I then taught two students until 3 pm, then got ready for another student at 3:30 pm that I finished teaching at 4:45 pm. I was exhausted from having taught all day. The kids had given me their drawings at lunch time, and Randy had put flowers and chocolates on the kitchen counter.

The kids were hungry so I went to the kitchen to make their sandwiches and cut up their fruit. They had gone outside our apartment in the afternoon and ridden their bikes. Sammy also enjoyed his bike for the first time, a special bike Randy had bought second-hand. While they were eating their food, I was cutting up vegetables for my salad to eat later. Then we went downstairs for piano practice. It was nice to have more time as my 8 pm student had moved his lesson to another day.

Back upstairs, I asked Emmy to do his maths schoolwork but he was not very motivated. I was helping him but he had quite a few anger fits in the afternoon, including during piano practice and while doing maths. Tammy then did her reading practice, later also Emmy, then it was bathtub time. Again, no time pressure. After the bathtub, we had time to read a Bible story. Emmy had calmed down by then and apologized. He even gave me a written apology. We had a good time reading and praying, then they went to bed. I got my salad and sat down to eat, finally enjoying peace and quiet and a break. Later I went back to work, and now it's 1:30 am and I have yet to load the dishwasher.
